Tighten the wheel bolts or lug nuts to the specified tightening toque in a crosswise sequence using a calibrated torque wrench. I purchased one of these to take the locking lug nuts off of a 2010 Jetta. I bought the car used, and the previous owner had lost the key. This piece did fit, and I was able to get the front nuts off of the car, but the rear bolts had been tightened down more than the front.

These nuts come off very hard sometimes, and if they're rusty, so you want to use a little bit of penetrant on that before you start. It'll make it easier to take the nuts off. We're going to use an 18 millimeter socket and ratchet and break it free.

The owner's manual specifies that the lug bolts for FWD (front wheel drive) Tiguan vehicles should be tightened to 103 lb-ft (140 Nm) of torque. If you have a "4MOTION" ( 4WD four wheel drive) Tiguan, the lug bolts should be tightened to 88 lb-ft (120 Nm) of torque. Double check that the five lug bolts are tight.
When all the bolts are loose, it's time to jack the car up, remove the lug nuts entirely, spinning them off by hand, and then remove the wheel to complete whatever project you've planned.
The wheel rim must rest uniformly against the brake disc. Screw in the wheel bolts or lug nuts and evenly tighten by hand in a crosswise sequence in order to centre the wheel rim. Tighten the wheel bolts or lug nuts to the specified tightening toque in a crosswise sequence using a calibrated torque wrench.
It would be best to use a torque wrench or an electric impact wrench with a torque stick to properly tighten the lug nuts. The owner's manual specifies that the lug bolts for FWD (front wheel drive) Tiguan vehicles should be tightened to 103 lb-ft (140 Nm) of torque.
