The Volkswagen Tiguan is a good compact SUV for many reasons. Depending on which trim you get, it can have a lot of cool features like a Wi-Fi hotspot, a digital gauge cluster, and Apple CarPlay. The VW Tiguan also comes with some good standard safety features, but some of its crash test scores were a little concerning.

Many owners said that the engine stopped working with no prior warning. The good news is that the new Volkswagen Tiguan models show signs of improvement. The 2020 model is incredibly safe and efficient.
Earlier I wrote a review for the 2012 Tuguan and severely criticized the transmission shift pattern. At the time it deserved the criticism but I am happy to report that VW has issued a software update to the Transmission Control Module. The update has fixed the problem.
The microchips send for the cavalry, diverting anything up to 100% (yes, really) to the rear tyres to settle the 1655kg Tiguan. There’s an 11g/km CO2 penalty to account for if you spec the all-wheel drive system, and a 4.6mpg deficit versus the front-drive Tiguan. VW claims 48.7mpg overall – we scored an admirable 44mpg in our test car.

The Volkswagen Tiguan won't win over crossover shoppers with a low pricetag, with a vast interior, the very latest infotainment and connectivity features, or even the best gas mileage.
It turned out to be. This improved Tiguan sold steadily for the brand until its replacement by an all-new MK2 model in the Summer of 2016. The Tiguan has always been smartly but inoffensively styled. Hardly 'powerful and muscular', apparently the qualities that the design team were aiming at.
The 118TSI with a six-speed manual gearbox, the 155TSI with Volkswagen’s self-shifting-manual DSG transmission. While driving enthusiasts will clearly prefer the semi sporty performance from the 155TSI we feel that most buyers will be more than satisfied with the economy model.
Out back, there's 470-litres of total boot space and the option of a ski-hatch for longer items. If that's not enough, pushing forward the 60:40 split-folded rear bench frees up a total of 1510-litres. You can carry quite heavy loads too, thanks to a payload capacity of 670kg.
