Committed ACTion – This principle or process is about goal-setting, and the idea is that these are long-term life goals which are values-based. In other words, the outcome we aim for in ACT is mindful, valued living. This will become clearer in the next section, where we look at the six core processes of ACT. The six core therapeutic processes in ACT are contACTing the present moment, defusion, acceptance, self-as-context, values, and committed ACTion.
The manual is designed for a group consisting of ten 90-minute sessions. The manual is set up to allow the group leader to balance fidelity to the core principles of ACT with flexibility to the individual needs of the group. For many sessions, there are core components and optional components.
