Mar 04, 2007 . The Carrier AC is more efficient, the Amana furnace is more efficient. The Amana is true 95+ and qualifies for the tax rebate, whereas only the 45000 Btu Carrier infinity 96 is actually 96%, my Carrier furnace would be 93 i think. That's a negligible difference as far as I am concerned.

The fifth, sixth, and seventh characters of the model number are grouped together.
To calculate tonnage from Amana model number, divide the BTUs by 12,000, which is the weight of one refrigeration ton. For example, an unit with 48,000 BTUs has a tonnage of 4. Amana Model Number information is used when signing up for service and for finding the right replacement parts.
