On the series 3, rolling the crown up to wake the screen would smoothly fade in from off to max brightness. On the series 4 there seems to be some lag with this feature. To get low brightness I have to turn the crown the slightest bit and then wait about 2 seconds for the screen to pop on at low brightness , and then can continue to roll to adjust the brightness from there.
