The Surfboard is a line of cable modems made by Motorola. A cable modem is the network interface between a computer and a television cable system that provides Internet service. The Surfboard modem generates its diagnostics as a set of HTML pages that can be viewed with your web browser.
This document provides helpful information for troubleshooting Internet connection issues with the SB6183. NOTE: If the solutions provided in this document do not resolve the issue, please contact the cable operator for assistance.
Verify that the SB6183 power cord is connected from the power port of the SB6183 to the power outlet. Verify that the coaxial cable is connected from the cable port of the SB6183 to the cable outlet. Verify that the Ethernet cable is connected from the Ethernet port on the SB6183 to the Ethernet port on the computer.
Utilizing the power of DOCSIS 3.0, the SB6183 enables channel bonding of up to 16 downstream channels and four upstream channels, which provide download speeds up to 686 Mbps. Speeds that fast take HD video streaming and online gaming to a whole new level.
Power cycle the unit by disconnecting the power cord for 10 seconds, then reconnect the power cord. Launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Enter http://192.168.100.1 into the address box. The Status page will appear. Click the Configuration link on top. The Configuration page will appear.
