Traditional wake boats add water to on board ballast tanks both under the floor and above using motor driven pumps. While this method works well it is very time consuming. As an example to add 2,000 lbs of water to a boat using pumps takes up to 12 minutes. Our fill system takes just under 1 minute! April 20/16: Pratt & Whitney has maintained that they can develop a TF33 upgrade package that will keep Boeing’s B-52 bomber flying until the 2040s. The eight engine bomber has kept the same TF33 engine since its induction in 1952, but high fuel consumption had the USAF looking at potential re-engine options.
New radar technologies could also assist with low-level flight, and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
The US Air Force awarded a $750 million, ten-year engineering sustainment program contract to Boeing in June 2009 to provide engineering and technical support services for the B-52H and its components, as well as support and test equipment, and system integration laboratory.
The B-52 Stratofortress is the Air Force’s principal strategic nuclear and conventional weapons platform, and supports the US Navy in anti-surface and submarine warfare missions. The aircraft has a length of 159ft 4in (48.5m) and a take-off weight of 488,000lb (220,000kg).
“The radar navigator has endless duties that pilots and crew rely on in order to achieve the mission,” said Maj. Aaron Tillman, a B-52H aircraft commander with the 20 BS. “The radar navigator is primarily responsible for the mission planning and weaponeering of numerous cruise missiles, GPS guided weapons, unguided munitions, mines and more.”
The Hound Dog missile that was carried on the B-52 also used a smaller version of the astro tracker. Sometimes when the about 2 foot diameter MD-1 astro tracker was ordered, the one foot diameter astro tracker for the Hound Dog would be delivered.
Nixon was a football fan and he named a later mission "Linebacker". The MD-1 was used on the B-52 C & D as well as in the E and F variants. Many of the boxes that made up the MD-1 system were located in the right forward wheel well.
Each B-52 would carry two of the missiles, one under each wing, on a pylon located between the B-52's fuselage and its inboard pair of engines. Both Chance Vought and North American Aviation submitted GAM-77 proposals to the USAF in July 1957, and both based on their earlier work on long-range ground-launched cruise missiles.
