Entry, Exit and Visa Requirements. Generally, all U.S. citizens are required to present a valid U.S. passport when traveling to The Bahamas, as well as proof of anticipated departure from The Bahamas. Those traveling to The Bahamas on a cruise may use another Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document.

The United States and The Bahamas also cooperate actively on law enforcement, civil aviation, environmental, and commercial issues. The U.S. Navy operates an underwater research facility on Andros Island.
From the mainland the major carriers making frequent flights to the Bahamas include American Airlines, Delta, US Airways, Air Canada and British Airways.
Use caution when driving in The Bahamas. Roads are generally adequate in major cities, but in poor condition in rural areas. Bicycles, mopeds and pedestrians can be hazards, particularly on the busy streets of Nassau and Freeport. Road construction is not always well marked.
All Americans traveling to the Bahamas by air must have a valid United States passport, this includes young children and infants.
