This is a list of tools you will need to have at hand when you install braided hose fittings. Most of you will have this equipment in your garage or workshop. Imperial spanners that have a polished face (avoid marking the anodised finish) Vice Jaws.
Care and attention when cutting the hose will make fitting the hose into the socket a lot easier. Mark the position of the hose against the back of the socket nut. Wrap a piece of masking tape around the hose where it meets the back of the socket.
Although the images show stainless steel braided hose, the process is the same for Aeroquip Startlite hose and Black Nylon Lightweight hose. When cutting the braided hose to length first wrap some masking tape around the hose where the cut will take place.
-3 helm pumps are fitted with positionable O-ring style hose fitting ports (referred throughout this manual as ORB). Do NOT attempt to install an NPT pipe fitting into a -3 helm hose fitting port. Doing so will lead to irreparable damage to the helm.
