You can select to use the extender battery b4 bike's battery on a ride to make the switch between 2 batteries. I find that selection helps me to judge how much charge I have left to work with on a long ride. My formula: 40 + bring one extender. 60+ bring 2 if you ride between sport and turbo. 80+ use your Mission Control app to program your ride.

The Range Extender can be charged by itself when it is disconnected from the bicycle. Connect the X35 charger to the charging port on the top of the unit.
