Sep 25, 2019 . The touch probe from Carbide 3D is pretty expensive. I've found an alternate for 1/2 the price on Amazon. It works just as well. The one difference is that it does not have a green and red light indication (but this is not necessary for it to function). This alternative CNC Touch Probe can be used with Shapeoko 3 that use Carbide Motion.

The name of the machine control software from Carbide 3D is Carbide Motion. Think of Carbide Motion as the cockpit of your CNC machine. This software allows you to jog your machine, home your machine, load G-Code, create offsets, and allows some manual control of the machine via the MDI.

Carbide Create is downloaded software that's run from your own machine, it’s not cloud software that can be insecure and unavailable. Best of all, it's free for everyone, not just Carbide 3D customers. Need 3D design and machining?
Pro Tip: If you’ve loaded a .egc file (this is the encrypted G-Code file output from the Carbide 3D license of MeshCAM (or early versions of Carbide Create)), you can access the plain text version of the file by clicking the file path link at the top of the run window.

Carbide Create is not a 3D CAM package. 3D file formats (STL, STEP, IGES,) are not compatible with Carbide Create and require a different CAM package all together.
Standard Final Assembly box contents: Using the hardware found in the package labeled ‘WASTEBOARD’, assemble the base frame of the machine. Note: There are 18 screws in the bag, but you will only be using 12. Begin by installing the leveling feet in the corners of each End Plate. Set the 3/4” wasteboard across the front/rear plate.
