The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ is a Fantastic Beginner Telescope!!! I’ve been observing the night sky with telescopes for 35 years, have owned almost 20 different telescopes and have been asked many times for suggestions by people looking to buy a “starter” telescope.
Spending $399 on anything is a lot to spend. Spending $399 on a telescope, is relatively inexpensive compared to most telescopes on the market and certainly is within the price range of other beginner telescopes. So, what did I think of the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ?
The StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ and 130AZ telescopes have slow motion controls for moving the telescope left and right as well as up and down. Every slow-motion control I’ve ever seen attaches to the mount using visible small thumb screws. The slow-motion controls for the DX telescopes use sunken Allen head screws that are not readily visible.
Celestron Astromaster 130 EQ Vs 130 AZ: Which one is Better for You in 2021? There’s plenty of telescopes in the market right now, but the Celestron Astromaster 130 model, by far, is one of the most popular. This is because it’s powerful, beginner-friendly, and highly affordable.
The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ Smart Reflector Telescope is a solid reflector telescope with the next generation of Celestron technology packed into it. This is a direct evolution to the NexStar 130SLT which we reviewed favorably.
A stable altazimuth mount and geared slow motion controls let you precisely guide and aim this Celestron StarSense Explorer manual telescope. Features slow motion controls to help you track celestial objects. Newtonian reflector design with fully coated optics. For clarity and precision. Allow easy viewing. Provides a stable base.
The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ Smart Reflector Telescope is one such telescope. The 130mm aperture is simply huge and really gives you some of the best views available for a tripod-mounted reflector (as opposed to a Dobsonian reflector). 130mm translates to about 5.1” in pure aperture goodness.
The Celestron Starsense Explorer 130mm DX telescope is absolutely the best! The purchase from Bestbuy and the extremely fast shipping was excellent!!!!! I can't recommend this amazing telescope enough! 5 stars all the way!!!!! Great for Beginners!
