I drive a Cooper with a DCT. Of course a lot would say manual is more fun, maybe it’s true but for me having 2 pedals instead of 3 is a huge thing. I can leave the gear choice to the car and just solely focus on driving. Especially if it is stop and go traffic, you realize more that the benefit of 2 pedals From the driving point of view.

Because a DCT is essentially two transmissions working in concert, each of which requires a clutch for the same reason a manual transmission requires a clutch. Further, dual-clutch transmissions do not require the driver to manually change from one gear to another using the shift lever.
Like a regular manual transmission, an AMT has gears arrayed on parallel shafts and a clutch (or clutches in the case of a DCT) that disengages the transmission from the engine while shifts to another pair of gears are carried out. However, gear changes are not accomplished by the driver operating a clutch pedal and an H-pattern shift lever.
