RO stands for Reverse Osmosis. This means these kinds of water purifiers employ reverse osmosis technology for purification of water. Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a unique technology that continually purifies tap water. Toxic chemicals, harmful metals, and illness-causing germs pollute most water sources.
Most standard RO systems produce around 4 gallons of waste water per 1 gallon purified (4:1) if you're on a city water supply above 70 PSI water pressure. This ratio is controlled by the flow restrictor on the drain line.
Flow restrictor maintains high pressure inside the RO membrane (a precondition for RO purification) by creating back pressure on the membrane and also controls the recovery ratio of the purifier.

RO improves the taste of water from municipal and underground sources. It eliminates the foul odor and also gets rid of the muddy color. The system is fully automatic and comes with many user-friendly features. The sensors detect when the tank is full and automatically shut off the system preventing excess energy consumption.
This restrictor automatically flushes the reverse osmosis system for 30 seconds every time it starts up and once every hour when the system is producing water. NOTE: THE TANK PRESSURE SWITCH WILL SHUT THE SYSTEM OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE BLADDER TANK IS FULL.
