Ecofan - the original heat powered stove fan - was developed in the Bruce Peninsula, an area in Ontario, Canada. Canadians understand a cold winter, but the Bruce Peninsula can be particularly brutal. As such, a wood stove can make all the difference on those days when the cold sinks into your bones and you just can’t get rid of the chill.

The Ecofan generates its own electricity through the difference in temperature. The base must make contact with a heat source of at least 85°C and the top of the fan must remain cool. The Ecofan needs to draw cooler air from behind in order to operate.

This might be the most important piece of info in the Ecofan manual. Where you place your Ecofan on your stove matters a lot. Placement will impact performance and the life of the motor and module. The temperature of the heat sink or top cooling fins will increase when the Ecofan is placed in front of the stove or pipe, minimizing the temperature differential on the module and energy output.

Yes, but placement is key. Again the fan needs to draw cooler air from behind to operate and the surface on which the AirMax 812, UltrAir 810 or Original 800 woodstove Ecofan is placed should never exceed 345°C. The surface on which the gas stove Ecofan 806GS is placed should never exceed 150°C while for the 806 BelAir it’s 200°C.
How does the Ecofan work? The Ecofan generates its own electricity through the difference in temperature. The base must make contact with a heat source of at least 85°C and the top of the fan must remain cool. The Ecofan needs to draw cooler air from behind in order to operate.
Remove the Ecofan from the stove if the temperature exceeds 345°C for the 800, 810 or 812; 150°C for the 806GS Gas or 200°C for the low-stovetop temperature Ecofan 806 BelAir. If the above measures do not resolve your problem please read the UK Warranty Terms and follow the process.
In 2011 the 802 AirPlus Ecofan was replaced by the 812 AirMax and in 2012 the 800 Original Ecofan was replaced by the 810 UltrAir Ecofan. The 810 and 812 Ecofans deliver 15 to 90% more air flow compared to the older models making them the highest performing Ecofans ever made.
