They do require regular filter replacement and can help keep air odor free, but they are not as effective at removing bacteria, viruses, mold and mildew from the air.
The display is very clear and the manual covers most everything other than where to find replacement filters but i found these are available on the manufacturers website, Appliance direct and also on Amazon varying in price but certainly not one of the more expensive filters to have to change and is among the cheapest i have seen in my research.
