The problems of the Pacific are different. What Great Britain calls the FAR East is to us the Near North. The FAR East region contains the easternmost territory in the world. In fact, the easternmost part of the Russian FAR East is relatively close to the US state of Alaska.
The FAR West could refer to the western region of the United States. The FAR west are the states of the US that are on the westernmost part that includes states located on the Pacific Ocean such as Oregon, California, and Washington. FAR West Can also be defined as the regions located to the west of Mississippi River.
