FCC ID numbers consists of two elements, a grantee code and an equipment product code. An FCC ID is assigned to all devices subject to certification. The Grantee Code, the first portion of the FCC ID, is either a three or five character alphanumeric string representing the Grantee/Applicant.
Historically, the FCC issued 3 character Grantee Codes and as stated above, is now issuing 5 character Grantee Codes. The FCC ID for products with a 3 character Grantee Code may be up to seventeen characters long if the grantee chooses to use fourteen characters for its product code.
FCC Testing. This is not true for the certification number (FCC ID) label. The FCC ID must be on the product. It can be a label, etched in on the exterior of the product, or be capable of being electronically displayed, but it must be visible and in a font that is reasonably visible without magnification.
In general, if your equipment does NOT have an FCC ID clearly labeled on it, it will NOT be in this equipment authorization database. Part 68: The FCC ID is NOT related to the FCC Registration Number under Part 68 Connection of Terminal Equipment to the Telephone Network.
How to locate the FCC ID label Every wireless device sold in the United States must have a label with the FCC ID number. The label will show the letters "FCC ID" followed by a series of letters and numbers and sometimes also a bar code. The label is usually not displayed prominently, but may be placed on the side or bottom of the device.
Another simple way to find a company's EIN without performing a manual EIN lookup is to check their website. Many companies will provide their EIN on their website. If the EIN is on a company's website, it will often be in the top left of the site, or in the footer of the website. You may also find EIN information in the “about us” page.
An FCC license is required to operate GMRS system. Licenses are issued for a ten-year term and can be renewed between 90 days prior to the expiration date and up to the actual expiration date of the license. After a license expires, an individual must request a new GMRS license.
