After a reading a bunch of reviews and testing out the units, I can say with confidence that the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is the best audio interface for me. And if you’re like most home recording musicians who only record 1 or 2 things at a time, then the same conclusion most likely applies to you.
Focusrite Scarlett 3rd Gen vs 2nd Gen What is an audio interface? We first went over this in our reviewof the Focusrite 6i6 2nd Gen. However, a recap is called for. Think of an audio interface as a technologically advanced adapter. For example, you can’t plug your guitar directly into your computer.
The biggest “problem” with the Scarlett 2i2 is if you need to record from multiple audio sources at the same time. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this review, the Scarlett 2i2 is the perfect audio interface for most home studio musicians.

The Focusrite Scarlett Solo is, quite simply, the ideal USB interface for recording the human voice or a single instrument. You could purchase a 2i2, but if you only need one input, why pay more?
Take it anywhere, connect and power by USB and get two natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamps, super-low latency, MIDI I/O, four analogue outputs and the same sound quality and digital conversion as the rest of the Scarlett range. We’ve been perfecting audio conversion for over 20 years.
