The manual bed lifting system is not comprised of cables and a handle you turn to lift the bed up or put it back down. That would be inconvenient and tiring. There is a better way and most of the time the system can remain out of sight. The gas-powered struts are the best manual system you can use and they are not difficult to install.

Getting back to Happijac, we visited the factory and enlisted the help of Don Payne, Happijac’s Product Manager, to tell about the proper operation and maintenance of Happijac camper jacks. All kidding aside, this is serious business as we not only need camper jacks to work, but we need them to work reliably, and safely.
All of Happijac’s mechanical jacks can be converted into remote controlled electric jacks with a Happijac conversion kit. According to Don, the square steel inner and outer tubing offers additional strength to the design to resist possible twisting, bending, or other structural compromises during loading and unloading.
With ball screw jacks, it takes five revolutions to move an inch vertically. The Happijac 4600 camper jack adds a drop leg feature which allows the operator to drop the camper jack leg to the ground quickly without use of the remote control or manual cranking. The acme screw camper jack is screw and nut camper jack design.
The ball screw jacks use a double circuit of 144 ball bearings. Don explained that these ball bearings greatly reduce drag on the hardened screw and reduce drawn amps on the jack motor. The Happijac 4500 and 4600 ball screw jacks are each rated at 1900 pounds.
1. Remove the protective weather cap and insert the hand crank handle into the crank socket on the jack. 2. Flip the motor release/locking lever on the side of the jack to the down position. This will disengage the motor head from the jack, allowing it to turn freely by hand. 3. Manually raise or lower jack to the desired position.
The numbered buttons 1-4 and 7-0 correspond to the jack locations while looking forward from the rear of the camper. Arrows on the buttons indicate the direction of the camper movement. Red buttons raise the camper and blue buttons lower the camper. 1.
To initialize the remote, press buttons 5 and 6 — the Down and Up buttons (Fig. 1) — at the same time. The status indicator light on the remote will turn green. 2. Press the ACC. IN and ACC. OUT buttons (Fig. 1) simultaneously to activate the receiver.
