I like to keep things simple when it comes to my sleep and wake routines—usually a combination of an eye mask and Amazon Echo Show playing light rain sounds does the trick—but always appreciate the chance to explore new sleep routines, which I got to do recently while testing a hybrid sleep device called the Hatch Restore.

It is not restorative to be woken in the middle of the night by a rogue appliance. Finally, the touch features on the restore are clumsy. It's hard to adjust the sound and light properly from the device. I've also accidentally turned the restore on in the middle of the night just reaching for a glass of water.
If you wake up in the middle of the night and want to listen to a fall back to sleep meditation, you need to use the mobile app to reprogram the device. Secondly, there are other apps out there with better content. The content in the restore app is not worth any monthly subscription fee.
