Accessing HBase Data Apache HAWQ Docs

With HAWQ, however, you use the PXF HBase plug-in to specify the subset of HBase qualifiers that define the HAWQ PXF table. To set up a clear mapping between each attribute in the PXF table and a specific qualifier in the HBase table, you can use either direct mapping or indirect mapping. In addition, the HBase row key is handled in a special way.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does a Hawq query work in Apache?

A query submitted to HAWQ is optimized, broken into smaller components, and dispatched to segments that work together to deliver a single result set. All relational operations - such as table scans, joins, aggregations, and sorts - simultaneously execute in parallel across the segments.

  • What kind of data does Hawq read and write?

HAWQ reads data from and writes data to HDFS natively. HAWQ delivers industry-leading performance and linear scalability. It provides users the tools to confidently and successfully interact with petabyte range data sets.

  • Is there a point of failure in Hawq?

Based on Hadoop’s distributed storage, HAWQ has no single point of failure and supports fully-automatic online recovery. System states are continuously monitored, therefore if a segment fails, it is automatically removed from the cluster.

  • Do you need to install GCC to build Apache Hawq?

There are several dependencies (see the following table) you must install before building HAWQ. To build Apache HAWQ, gcc and some dependencies are needed. The libraries are tested on the given versions. Most of the dependencies can be installed through yum. Other dependencies should be installed through the source tarball.

  • What is the source code for Apache Hawq?

  • When did Apache Hawq go into incubation?

HAWQ entered incubation in September of 2015 and made four releases as an incubating project. Along the way, the HAWQ community has worked hard to ensure that the project is being developed according to the principles of the The Apache Way. We will continue to do so in the future as a TLP, to the best of our ability.

  • How does Apache Hawq work with Apache Madlib?

Plus, HAWQ® works with Apache MADlib machine learning libraries to execute advanced analytics for data-driven digital transformation, modern application development, data science purposes, and more. Contribute to Advanced Enterprise Technology! HAWQ® is breaking new ground for advanced analytics and machine learning in Apache Hadoop.
