Once I took the USB-C power cord for MBP2 and plugged it into back of j5 docking station it worked perfectly. Plug the power cord for laptop into j5 docking station (far left USB-C port on the back) and then use the j5 USB-C connector cable (the one under flap on front side) to connect docking to laptop.
