JEFF ROWLAND Design Group 201 amplifier. Beautifully made (it is certainly the best-looking Class D amp of the lot, with a body carved from a billet of 6061 aluminum and a wavy faceplate straight out of Rowland’s Classic line), the 250Wpc JEFF ROWLAND Design Group 201 monoblock amplifier is the second-best Class D offering I’ve heard.

I wonder if JEFF ROWLAND ever read EF Schumacher’s popular tome Small is Beautiful, a guide of sorts to the benefits of keeping a business small, a state of affairs that many audio manufacturers have taken to heart, albeit not necessarily by choice. The Capri S2 preamplifier also embodies that philosophy: it is no bigger than it needs to be.

With its thick gloss black casework and contrasting scalloped so-shiny-it-might-be-lenticular front panels (all machined from top-grade 6061-T6 aluminium alloy), JEFF ROWLAND sets a build quality standard that is rarely matched, and never exceeded.

VERY, VERY RARE!!! You never see these babies listed for a reason. I am the original owner. Mint! $6k new, asking $2300. I bought it in 97 and has all the accessories and custom case. Will also throw in a $500 Van den Hul Mainsstream Hybrid power cords and custom XLR's as JEFF ROWLAND uses pin 2 as negative. Don't miss out. Sound must be heard to be believed.

The JEFF ROWLAND Design Group Conductor is obviously one of the finest phono stages I’ve encountered, a quiet and capable (and yes, gorgeous) piece of kit that brought my enjoyment of vinyl to an entirely new level.”
Moving on, the JEFF ROWLAND Design Group Continuum S2 integrated amplifier is beautifully made and unusual. The first part is a given—we’ve all seen those gorgeous faceplates with the undulating and hypnotic patterns buffed into the solid blocks of aircraft-grade aluminum. (Did you know JDRG refers to the faceplate as the “console”? I like that.)
Another stroke of luck—the Marten Oscar Duos also came in for review, and they matched beautifully with the JEFF ROWLAND Design Group Continuum integrated amplifier. Would I resist trying the Volti Audio RAZZ with the Continuum S2? Pipe down, I’m trying to tell a story here.

But the Continuum is unusual because it is so beefy and heavy and yet it’s slightly more compact than you expect it to be. This has been JEFF ROWLAND’s signature for a long time, putting a lot of solid-state amplifier into relatively small boxes.
The JEFF ROWLAND Design Group Continuum S2 integrated amplifier is not a new product, but it does sport a new feature—the HP Phono card. When JRDG’s Lucien Pichette approached me to possibly review the latest Continuum, that was the selling point. Or, as Lucien explained: “It’s the closest you can get to the Conductor without being the Conductor.”
