These kits feature current adjustability over a wide range (some start as low as 2.5mA and others start at 10mA; the maximum is 100mA) and space for a fixed resistor to replace the variable resistor once the “correct” current has been determined.
These power supplies use either the LT3080 or its big brother the LT3083 regulator, which are adjustable by changing one resistor for output voltages between 1 and 24 volts DC for the LT3080 and 18 volts DC for the LT3083 in this implementation.
K&K Audio will be publishing some sample designs in the coming months to illustrate the application of Lundahl transformers in amplifiers and preamplifiers. The K&K Audio kits have been developed to provide building blocks for DIYaudio projects.
The basic design of the Maxxed-Out Phono Preamplifier has been the mainstay of K&K Audio phono preamp kits since 2003. Over this time we have relentlessly worked to substantially improve the sonic performance of this topology through the use of improved component parts and additions to the basic topology that have removed performance limitations.
Alternatively, you can resell them yourself using the K&K Audio AudioAsylum forum to advertise them. K&K Audio imports and sells Lundahl audio transformers to Do-It-Yourselfers.
The Maxxed-Out Phono Preamp uses Lundahl audio and power magnetics, Mundorf Silver/Gold Oil, Cardas, Panasonic, and Elna Silmic II capacitors, Teflon/collet style tube sockets, Audio Note and Shinko tantalum resistors, Cardas and Neutrik connectors, and semi-custom Grayhill gold contact switches for the best sound, period!
