May 17, 2011 . It is easy to use and it makes setting up the clock 100x easier. You don’t need the printed manual because an online help screen is included as well (accessible via “hel c” or “hel b”). Future versions of this clock will support alphanumeric tubes (8x B7971’s) and this interface will be used to send commands, text, etc., to them.

Mar 30, 2013 . Yes, the KABTRONICS manual page 33 is the circuit I was recommending, but looking at it, I think the one you linked to is a lot better. I'm not happy with KABTRONICS's explanation of the trigger/toggle behaviour, and I think the design you linked to, with the 220k resistors, is better. The 100k base-emitter resistors shouldn't be needed though.

To return to those glory days, I decided to build a digital clock using only transistors as the active elements. After a few years of “work” (it felt more like play), the final parts count is 194 transistors, 566 diodes, 400 resistors, and 87 capacitors.

Optionally Mount the Clock on a Plaque This clock fits well on a 7 by 9 inch plaque; I recommend 6 to 10 coats of spray shellac. Then mount the clock to the plaque using the nylon standoffs screws supplied. KABTRONICS ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
The power supply (lower left) rectifies and filters the incoming nine volts AC, converting it to nine volts DC to operate the circuitry and a 60 Hz clock. Next, a prescaler divides the 60 Hz by 10 and six, resulting in a 1 Hz clock. A 2 Hz clock is also routed to the time setting switches.
