The KSERVER-2500 featured a gigabit Ethernet port which allowed it to support 25 streams of SD video. Later servers have more processing power enabling an even higher number of simultaneous streams. Initially, the KREADER-2000 was replaced by the KMUSIC-4000, which did everything the reader did but added 4 music-only zones for about the same …

The Great Kaleid-Escape In a vastly oversimplified nutshell, a Kaleidescape system looks like this: You plant a Kaleidescape server, like the 1U reviewed here ($9,995 base price, $12,470 as tested), somewhere in your house.
The Cinema One is compatible with the Kaleidescape Store, through which you can purchase and download HD movies and TV shows at bit-for-bit quality (in both video and audio) as Blu-ray discs. DVD-quality purchases are also available.
The form is close to that of my reference OPPO BDP-103, but with about two inches less depth. The box has a brushed-silver chassis and a lighter silver front face with a shimmering Kaleidescape logo in the center. To the right are three buttons for eject, import, and power; to the left is the slot-loading disc drive.
In 2015, Kaleidescape launched the flagship Encore line of 4K-compatible movie players and servers, including the top-shelf Strato 4K movie player, which supports HDR10 playback, and began adding 4K content for download through the Movie Store. Things seemed to be rolling along.
Kaleidescape designed the Strato C movie player to provide an immersive home cinema experience, with better audio and video playback quality than most commercial theaters.
Kaleidescape is not a streaming service—purchased titles are downloaded directly to your Strato S or Terra Server and then accessed by the player. The last time Sound & Vision reviewed a Kaleidescape system, its online movie store could only be accessed from an internet browser on a computer.
Titles are available in video formats ranging from standard-definition 480P all the way up to full 4K with HDR for movies. Kaleidescape supports HDR10 high dynamic range, but not Dolby Vision or HDR10+.
