The KAM XLcan be accessed and controlled from a remote location via packet mode, with password control. Most commands and parameters can be sent from a remote station connected in this way.
These units are capable of supplying proper input to the AUX port of the KAMXL. However, some GPS vendors invert the sense of this signal (true TTL), and these units will not directly interface with an RS232 port.
If the GPS receiver has a cable that can be connected to a computer serial port to report its position data, the same serial cable can be connected directly to the AUX serial port of the KAM XL, without changes. Since cabling may vary from one GPS vendor to another, that cable is not supplied with the KAM XL.
The TNC, while in GPS Mode, can also update its internal date/time clock to UTC, derived from the satellites. When connected to a weather station, the KAM XLcan capture (and beacon) the weather data strings, just like GPS data, using the same GPS commands and settings.
