The KAMBO ceremony may have been the shock to the system that I needed. Given the violent physical reaction from frog poison, it could be that KAMBO is the ultimate placebo. Or it could be that KAMBO medicine did exactly what its proponents say it can do. It reset my system. More research is needed into the benefits or pitfalls of taking KAMBO.

KAMBO, also known as frog medicine, is the venomous secretion of Phyllomedusa bicolor (the giant leaf or monkey frog), a bright green tree frog native to the Amazon basin. It can be found in the rainforest regions of northern Brazil, eastern Peru, southeastern Colombia, and parts of Venezuela, Bolivia, and the Guianas.
(All You Need to Know) KAMBO, also known as Sapo, is becoming increasingly popular in the United States and Europe. Its uses include traditional rituals that involve applying secretions from the Amazonian giant leaf frog to gates, which are small holes burned into the skin.
To extract KAMBO, frogs are caught and tied by their feet in an X shape, close to a fire. This causes the frog to become stressed and produce the substance. It is then possible to scrape it onto a stick where it quickly crystallizes.
People participate in KAMBO knowing what awaits. There are no distractions from the experience because, with KAMBO, there shouldn’t be. It’s a common saying that KAMBO gives you what you need, but not what you want. In this sense, KAMBO is both frog poison and frog medicine.
