Kasparov is famous for being adamant on knowing who he is playing against in simuls (his strength I mean). He obviously wanted to avoid getting "sniped" by a 2200 player in a 30-player simul. It's important to tailor your play to the strength of your opponent. Generally I hate his temper tantrums but the organisers deceived him in this case.
