The KAT Loco videos shows moving your right foot back behind you, resting on your toes and holding it. However, it's easy to lose balance a bit when moving your foot back behind you and I end up wobbling a bit which I think prevents it from activating sometimes since it may think I am in the process of still moving my foot.
