Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Kaweco special worth it?

KaWeCo’s EF and F nibs seem to be excellent out of the box. The most surprising thing about the KaWeCo Special is how well it writes when posted. It makes it a really long pen but it is light and well-weighted. I did end gripping the pen a bit further back than other pens but the slim shape makes that an easy, comfortable transition.

  • What does Kaweco mean?

The brand “KaWeCo” signifies the name of the company Koch, Weber and Company. Over more than a century, KaWeCo has produced numerous celebrated models of writing instruments. Models like Sport, Dia, Elite and Liliput have been highly successful and have endured the test of time.

  • Does the Kaweco special FP packaging make or break a purchase?

While packaging won’t make or break anyone’s pen buying decision, it might affect a decision to make a second or third pen purchase. The KaWeCo Special FP is a soft hexagonal shape. So, even though it doesn’t have a clip, the hex shape keeps it from rolling away. The grip section is round but very short.

  • Should I buy the Kaweco Sport or the Al?

For those who enjoy the durability and heft of the aluminium, the KaWeCo is a good, solid upgrade. The Sport is a great starter pen, but for fans of the KaWeCo Sport, the AL is an obvious choice to have to try out. You won’t regret it. Katherine: If you like small pens (and I mean small ), the KaWeCo Sport is fantastic.

  • Where are Kaweco fountain pens made?

Compact fountain pens and ink cartridges, made in Germany. Shop all KaWeCo fountain pens, ink, and accessories. Metal bodied pocket fountain pens that fill via cartridge/converter.

  • What accessories do I need for my Kaweco pens?

Short standard international cartridges to fit your KaWeCo pens. Replacement nibs, add-on clips, and converters for your KaWeCo fountain pens.

  • What kind of fountain pen do you use?

Metal bodied pocket fountain pens that fill via cartridge/converter. Tiny metal bodied fountain pen with a flame-torched finish. Colorful affordable resin fountain pens that accept a full sized converter.
