The KDX has a great linkage design, and it is tucked up out of harm’s way, but I run a Moose Racing skid plate for engine protection. Out back, the brakes are horrible. The rubber brake line flexes when you apply pressure, so there is no feel to the rear brake at all. I countered this with Galfer steel-braided lines and Galfer rotors.

Kawasaki’s KDX range has produced many legendary dirtbikes, the most famous of which is the long-running 200cc models. But Team Green also produced a swag of great 250cc models from 1980 until 1994, too. The 1991-94 KDX250 was among the best of them.
The first 200cc in 1983 was a fine bike, as a result of all this development. The airbox was now bigger and easier to get at; and in a surprise move, Kawasaki did away with the electronic odometer and went back to a mechanical one. The final series of KDX machines were the “H” models, significant for the new KX-style perimeter frame. With the H series, Kawasaki finally moved the KDX into the realm of the race bike.
