Ultimately, I ended up with a Keihin 35mm PWK over the stock 33mm carburetor, which wore out, and used a V-Force 3 reed cage. Huge gains in power were made with these two mods. Jeff Fredette (the KDX icon) makes quite a few trick bits for the machines, and I use his billet chain-guide and shorter kick-starter.

It's best to use a piece of pipe that will go right through the wheel and over the top of the swingarm's right side too. Be careful to select an opening in the spokes that will keep the pipe away from them so that they don't take the strain. Then have another go at the clutch nut. It's a normal right-hand thread, so turn it counter-clockwise.

KDX owner report improved throttle response over the entire rev range with a small increase in over all power. Most that have tried both the Boyesen RAD Valve and Delta Force Reed Valve on the KDX prefer the Delta Force. Step Four: If you have a KDX200 go to Stage Three.
Both the FMF pipes and the Pro Circuit pipe were originally designed to be used on the KDX200. Installing a Torque pipe on a KDX200 will improve performance over the stock pipe from idle to wide open throttle.
My Kawasaki KDX200 is ready to ride if you are. Tastefully prepared for your trail riding adventures or enduro racing or just fun at the cabin. About 7 hours total on the bike, and I would say it looks pretty close to that. I bought it with 2-3 hours on it, according to the original owner.
