Oct 10, 2009 . Talk about puckered up. I pucker each time I put the stand down. My 700lb baby leans over to a point to where I can't pucker no more. Just had it in for 5000 mile service. They AGAIN checked it out and assured me it's normal. I know, I can sit on it and it ain't going now where. It's just the thought I guess of the Jiffy giving out and over she ...

Possible problem for bike leaning too far on kickstand

Aug 01, 2017 . 2011 Vision. I recently had a problem with SCREAM leaning too far over when on the kickstand and the oil wasn't properly being pumped into all parts of the motor during warm up. (Knocking) I found out that the "cradle" that the kickstand attaches to was the problem. The attachment point where the kickstand joins the cradle was "wowed".

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does a Harley Jiffy stand work?

If you've never seen a Harley jiffy stand, let me explain briefly how it works. The jiffy stand has a square end that fits into a corresponding square hole broached into this beefy tab. This is the position the tab occupies when the stand is retracted and the rider is underway. (The next photo will help you make some sense of this.

  • What part number is the Jiffy stand?

The original jiffy stand was H-D P/N 11331-30. For those of you who can decode that part number (either the “old” system or the “new” system, depending on your frame of reference), you will understand that its debut on the VL series of motorcycles predates the Great Depression. And here's the tab after the bike's been leaned over.

  • What is the length of the kickstand on a Sportster?

Gloss Black +1" Extended length kickstand for 1989-2003 Harley Sportster models. Measures 12" Length. Fits: 1989-2003 Harley Sportster models High-strength steel kickstand Replaces OEM kickstands perfectly Gloss Black Finish NOTE: Kickstand... Gloss Black -1" Shorter length kickstand for 1989-2003 Harley Sportster models. Measures 10" Length.

  • Why does a jiffy stand lock up?

However, in reality, a jiffy stand locks up. This happens because the bracket has a few degrees of intentional angular “slop,” thus having the effect of shifting the axis relative to the jiffy stand (even though it’s actually the motorcycle and bracket moving, not the jiffy stand).
