Some vessel sinks don’t have a flat bottom surface, so they will require a mounting ring to hold the bowl. Apply silicone sealant to the ring and position it over the vanity top hole. Apply sealant to the top of the ring and set the bowl in place. Some mounting rings require bolts to hold it in place.
Installing a Vessel Sink: Place the Mounting Ring. Lower the Sink Vessel. Caulk the Edges of the Sink Hole. Separate the Drain Assembly. Insert the Drain Body. Reassemble the Drain Assembly. Attach the P-Trap. Turn on the Water.
Most round glass vessel sinks require a mounting ring to be used between the sink and countertop. A mounting ring is not required for copper vessel sinks or stone vessel sinks.
There are two ways to install your bowl sink: above the countertop or below the countertop. If you do not have a manufacturer's template for cutting a hole in the countertop for either of these installation methods, then you can use the bowl itself to mark where to cut.
Most kitchen sinks come with between one and four holes already drilled or punched. Some sinks come with additional holes cut, that are invisible until you remove the inner core. Regardless of what material your sink is made of, it is possible to cut as many extra holes as you need to accommodate your faucet and accessories.
