Lamotrigine is a white to pale cream-colored powder 56 and has a pKa of 5.7. Lamotrigine is very slightly soluble in water (0.17 mg/mL at 25°C) 57 and slightly soluble in 0.1 M HCl (4.1 mg/mL at 25°C).
Lamictal is also used to delay mood episodes in adults with bipolar disorder (manic depression). Immediate-release Lamictal can be used in children as young as 2 years old for seizure treatment as an add-on treatment to other seizure medication.
