Lancair was created in 1984 as a kit airplane manufacturer by Lance A. Neibauer. The prototype of the Lancair 200, which first flew in 1984, is now on exhibit at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Lancair has played an important role in shaping the nature of the expanding kit aircraft industry since then.

The Lancair 360, like all Lancair types, is a great little high-performance airplane. It is fast, responsive, and extremely enjoyable to fly. Apr 17, 2012 . At 25 pounds per square foot of wing, the Lancair 235/360 is well into high-performance, single-engine land; a Mooney’s wing load is 19 psf, and a Bonanza’s slightly more. This tells us the Lancair flies a bit hotter, and with less wing it also lands faster. Next is power loading, where the Lancair once again beats the production models.

The Lancair appears to be pretty much a "glue pre-fabricated pieces" process as opposed to actually forming parts from sheet stock, welding, riveting, building ribs from sticks / gussets, etc. On the other hand, I would suspect that the "systems" in a Lancair would typically be much more complex than most "traditional" homebuilts.
