The Lancair appears to be pretty much a "glue pre-fabricated pieces" process as opposed to actually forming parts from sheet stock, welding, riveting, building ribs from sticks / gussets, etc. On the other hand, I would suspect that the "systems" in a Lancair would typically be much more complex than most "traditional" homebuilts.

There are no "factory-approved" operating and maintenance manuals for your aircraft--and none are required. Buyers should ask for the builder-developoed operating manual and maintenance guides—especially operation and inspection checklists.

  • What is a Lancair Legacy?

    The Legacy is Lancair's 3rd generation of improvements to the original two seat aircraft design. Typically powered by the IO-550 it can cruise LOP at 250mph and 25mpg. CAFE Foundation reported "No aircraft ever tested by CAFE has scored such high marks in all areas."
