Why is the Lancair IV-P so dangerous? - Pilots of America

Oct 04, 2014 . Stall speeds and stall characteristics are part of this. The IV-P is extremely unforgiving. Add to that a rotten glide ratio and an engine failure is a real problem. Speeds are much faster. 240-300 is doable for pistons. 230-240 is more of an economy cruise. In the 400, that'd be more like 180.

  • How does legup raise the wheels?

    The onboard computer senses speed and wheel position and upon acceleration, if the operator does not retract the wheels, LegUp will raise them automatically. Semi-automatic deployment (lowering) of the wheels is also supported!
