The Novation LaunchPad Pro is a MIDI controller designed to inspire music making in Ableton Live and other software, whether on stage or in the studio. While the LaunchPad Pro can be used with a variety of software and hardware (outlined in the fi nal chapters), this user guide primarily focuses on its interaction with Ableton Live.
Select LaunchPad95 as your control surface and select the LaunchPad Midi Port MIDI ports like shown below. Newer LaunchPads (X and Mini MK3) offer two inputs and output ports. Make sure to use the 2nd one, both for input and output. Make sure to enable "Track", "Sync" and "Remote" in the midi options below for the MIDI ports used by LaunchPad95.
Ableton Live (often referred to only as Live) is a unique and powerful piece of software for music creation. Ableton Live 10 Lite is provided with your LaunchPad X, which gives you all the tools you’ll need to get started with making your own music.
To activate the Drum Step Sequencer, select a midi clip in the clip view. Then press User Mode 2 button once, activating the step sequencer (in normal mode). Press user mode 2 button once more opens the Melodic step sequencer
Tailor LaunchPad Pro to your setup, then take control of MIDI-compatible hardware and software — with or without a computer. Use Custom Modes to send MIDI commands to software and hardware simultaneously. Hook LaunchPad Pro up to an all-hardware rig using MIDI In, Out and Out 2/Thru ports on 3.5mm connectors.

If you already have Ableton Live it must be version 10 or greater to work with LaunchPad Pro. We recommend that you update to the latest version as previous versions of Ableton Live do not include LaunchPad Pro integration with Live. LaunchPad Pro will also work as a standard MIDI controller.
