Jan 24, 2012 . I personally love the LAVVU design. I built mine with three materials: poles I cut from the forest, some paracord and a large, strong tarp (cost 48 Euros). The hole at the top lets in a little rain/snow, but if you have an open fire or wood stove going, the rain/snow evaporate due to the heat. Even without this, the amount of rain/snow is minimal.
