Industrial (pure ethyl) alcohol of 190º and 200º proof is subject to Federal excise tax (FET) of $13.50 per proof gallon. A proof gallon is equal to 1 gallon of 100º proof (50% by volume) pure ethyl alcohol. This tax is added to the purchase cost of industrial alcohol.
Industrial alcohol is distilled ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH), normally of high proof, produced and sold for other than beverage purposes. It is usually distributed in the form of pure ethyl alcohol, completely denatured alcohol, specially denatured alcohol and proprietary solvent blends.
Example: Winery, distillery or companies that manufacture food products containing alcohol of less than 1%. Class Permit 8 - Liquor service without charge or donation at a trade association event. English | Korean | Spanish Class Permit 9 - Liquor donation by a manufacturer, importer or wholesaler for a trade association meal or reception event.
Class Permit 10 - Liquor service without charge or donation at an international trade fair, show or exposition. Class Permit 11 - Bed and Breakfast lodging facilities – allows a bed and breakfast lodging facility to donate or serve beer or wine without charge to overnight guests for consumption on the premise.
