Leak Stereo 130 made the difference between these speakers very clear. Both on a general scale and in small details: in the construction of the stage, in the tonal arrangement of the vocals, in the speed of the attack and in the broaching of the bass trains – the 130th seemed to be an experienced examiner taking credit from freshmen.

Leak’s Stereo 130 Amplifier and CDT Disk Transport With so many old things being new again, what could be more hifi fun than an update on a British classic? You might mistake the new Stereo 130 for a vacuum tube amplifier from the late 60s or early 70s; it’s actually modeled after the original Leak Stereo 30, which was, in fact, a solid-state amplifier.

The Leak Stereo 130 is what I like to call a full-function integrated amplifier as it includes a Moving Magnet (MM) phono input, a DAC, and a headphone amplifier. Digital to analog conversion comes courtesy of the ESS Sabre32 Reference ES9018K2M DAC which can handle PCM resolutions up to 24bit/384kHz and DSD to DSD256 via USB.

Have recently bought a Leak Stereo 130. On the whole a good amplifier that offers good control over my Q Acoustics 3050i speakers. I do not fully understand why but specifically when a PC is connected to the USB B input, the sound is a bit too lean to my taste.

Leak Audio Stereo 130 Review The original Leak Stereo 30 was launched in 1963 and at the time it was a gateway product of sorts. While not as cheap as some products on the market at that time, it was more affordable than Leak’s own tube-based designs.

The specifications of the Stereo 130 claim to use class AB amplification, not class D. Here's a discussion on the chip used in the Quad Vena II (LM3886TF). The Leak Stereo 130 uses a nearly identical circuit board, so probably the assumptions made in that thread apply here as well: Quad Vena II (page 1) - Amplifiers - Lenco Heaven Turntable Forum
