When, Montreal/Canada Transportation Equipment Conglomerate “Bombardier” purchased Learjet Incorporated in 1990, Learjet was so eager for development. Therefore, well before the ink was dry on the acquisition agreement, Learjet-60 program was launched.
Pushing the T/Ls to the T-O detent will assure you that you’re on a Learjet. You’re going to enjoy the smooth but strong acceleration. The pitch force at rotation shall reflect the CG if you haven’t adjusted your pitch trim accordingly.
In 1990, Learjet had collaborated with NASA Ames Research Center, slashing overall cost & time from the development program. The LR60 ‘s contours were made slipperier by using NASA/Boeing Tranair software to reduce the drag associated with the nacelles, engine pylons, winglets and so on.
No business jet with a similar sized cabin could beat the LR60 at the fuel consumption then. It’s block-to-block fuel consumption was even better than fuel miserly smaller LR-35A. As compared with the LR-55C, it meant 12% lower fuel consumption.
