That’s about it for stuff you have to have, if you’ve got something to solder in front of you then we’ll begin. Soldering components on circuit boards. As this is one of the things most people will want to do, that’s were we’ll start. This is about as simple as it gets. You have your soldering iron safely in its stand. And you’ve wet the sponge.
Touch the tip of the iron of the joint to be made and hold it for about a couple of seconds then apply the solder which will immediately melt around the joint. After about a second or so remove the solder and iron at the same time making sure the joint, board and component aren’t disturbed as you do it. That’s it, a perfect solder joint.
Its more advanced and expensive than a soldering iron so most people start with a soldering iron, well I did anyway but if you can afford to start with a soldering station or want to know more about them read my article here. Anyway you can defiantly solder with a soldering station!
If they are really close together, the way I solder them is to apply flux along the whole side on the legs and pads and run the iron and the solder down the whole side treating all the pins down one side as if it was one big joint. As you do this you will be amazed to see the solder separating on each individual pin.
