Apr 22, 2008 . What you should know before tackling this is that the MachMotion setups you've looked at are only part of the total system. Mach drives step and direction drives, either for servos or steppers. So, you've got an additional $125 to $150 per axis for the drives. It also appears they don't include the DC power supply for the axis motors.

Mach3 maintains a tool file for each of the 254 tools which can be used. Each data line of the file contains the data for one tool. This allows the definition of the tool length (Z axis), tool diameter (for milling) and tool tip radius (for turning). The language is based on lines of code.
If ‘Reposition Distance’ is set to -1, then the Y axis will move 1 unit in the negative direction. After this move, there will be a second probe operation in the positive X direction. When it is complete, the probe will retract from the part and set the appropriate angle.
Each axis can also be homed using the individual axis home buttons (Once an axis has been homed, the axis LED display will be green). *Bonus did you know: MachMotion control software comes with the ability to show the soft limit boundaries in the toolpath display.

When homing the machine, the axis will travel in the direction of the switch or proximity sensor. After making contact, your axis will move forward off of the sensor and reset your control software machine position to zero.
*Bonus did you know: MachMotion control software comes with the ability to show the soft limit boundaries in the toolpath display. With the machine homed correctly and soft limits set, the machine will not hit a physical limit switch.
