Remove and demagnetize or replace impulse coupling. Inspect engine for magnetized components and demagnetize all such components. Measure voltage between vibrator terminal marked "in" and the ground terminal while operating starter. Must be at least 8 volts on 12 volt systems, or 13 volts on 24 volt systems.

This is what gets done first with a suspected magneto issue. Step one is to test the magneto as a system with the Allen Electrical Servicer then if faulty identify and correct the defective components. Often it is not a magneto issue at all. Remove the harness cap and test the lead for high voltage breakdown and continuity. (resistance values increase with lead length.) Inspect the insulator boots at both ends of the lead. Leaks resemble a dark pin point on the insulator. Inspect the magneto distributor block tower that goes to your cold cylinder.

Over the years, Champion/Slick and Continental/Bendix have published many troubleshooting tips.
The first test to perform with a no go before a frontal assault on the magneto is to determine if it is indeed the problem. Most manufacturers describe cranking the engine at normal cranking speed and holding the end of the plug wire 1/16"-1/8" or so from the engine block and see if we have a spark.
Not only does Magneto deliver the warm, luscious delay signals that tape delays are known for, it is also capable of a high degree of saturation. Turn up the Record Level knob to send a hot signal to the record head for any amount of tape saturation you desire. Turn up the Tape Age control for warmer repeats. Add some truly beautiful Spring Reverb.
Inspect the magneto distributor block tower that goes to your cold cylinder. You are looking for evidence of carbon tracking and a resultant short to ground. If you cannot discern any major difference in cylinder to cylinder temperature you have a bad magneto. It is firing all the plugs intermittently and all the cylinders have been functioning.
