Magnet Design Technical Magnet Design Guide

The basis of magnet design is the B-H curve, or hysteresis loop, which characterizes each magnet material. This curve describes the cycling of a magnet in a closed circuit as it is brought to saturation, demagnetized, saturated in the opposite direction, and then demagnetized again under the influence of an external magnetic field..

Magnetics - Design Guides

Inductors are devices that store and convert energy. A BH loop characterizes the useful region of operation of a magnetic component. When a gap is introduced into the core either discretely, as in a ferrite or distributed, as in a powder core, the ability of the device to store energy is greatly enhanced, from the region of 0.2 – 2.0 Oersteds for an ungapped core set to 100 – 1000 …

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a Magnetrol float level?

As a result, floats ride on the liquid surface partially submerged and move the same distance the liquid level moves. Because of this, they are normally used for narrow level differential applications such as high level alarm or low level alarm. Magnetrol float level controls use a simple float and magnetic coupling action.

  • How does a float work on a level control?

All float operated liquid level controls operate on the basic buoyancy principle which states "the buoyancy force action on an object is equal to the mass of liquid displaced by the object." As a result, floats ride on the liquid surface partially submerged and move the same distance the liquid level moves.

  • What is the Atlas chamber and magnetic float?

The chamber and magnetic float is available in a variety of materials and pressure ratings to accommodate the wide variety of complex process applications present in the world’s major industrial facilities. A change of level in the process tank corresponds to a similar change within the ATLAS chamber.

  • Why does my float need a torriodal magnet?

All our floats are fitted standard with a torriodal-magnet, because a float with a magnetic bar can loose there guidance/ indication rail by rapid movement inside the level gauge. As a result the magnetic level gauge will not work properly for a while.
