Fix 1: Run First Aid to repair the unmounted WD My Passport. Disk Utility's First Aid is a drive diagnostic which can be used to test for defects or problems on a mac. Step 1: Go to Disk Utility (found in the Applications > Utilities folder). Step 2: Select the unmounted WD My Passport for Mac in Disk Utility.
Reconnect the WD drive via a new USB hub or to a new PC. If the WD Passport drive shows up, it is the damaged USB hub that stops WD from showing up. If the WD Passport is not detected either on your current or the new PC, replace the WD drive with a new one.
To change the security settings for your drive in the future, launch the WD Security utility and enter your password. Select the "Change Password" radio button and reconfigure your password and password hint as needed. Click "Update Security Settings" to confirm.
